just about when factions came out, I did weekly item give aways in LA. I would spam free stuff at storage, and i would give you an item for whatever profession you had. I cant tell you the number of times i got someone whisper me and say...."can i have a sword instead?" or "this is what you are giving me?" Its sad really. I stopped that after the 3rd week :P

I only give stuff away to guildies and friends. If you try to give decent things to a newbie, you end up with greedy bastards just wanting to get stuff for their existing characters without paying for it, or get reported.

I saw some people talking about people WTS and not saying an amount, but asking for offers.
They may not be intentionally doing it, but it's often a tactic used to get ignorant people who want the item to overbid. Especially if the item's price has dropped recently.
It's something the sleaziest of the sleazy used car salesmen do.
Yeah, so whether the seller is doing that on purpose or not, in that situation if you want the item, you underbid by ALOT.
Then watch the drama unfold.

I have had people act suspicious of my motives, but I have never been flamed for being nice to someone.
No, wait. I have, but not by the person I was being nice to. It was some other dingleberry that was being an asshat to the person I was nice to.

I showed this dude this req9 +5e +20enchants, 20/16 chaos axe I had cuz he was wielding one. He completely went nuts on me saying stuff like no one cares about your stuff your noob, it isn't enough perfect and blah blah blah. I thought he would happy that he had a person in the party that also admired chaos axes but I was wrong :S

The merchant never flamed me for selling him stuff. There is no point in giving out crappy weapons anymore now that you can buy a max item and put perfect mods on it for 5-25k, depending on what weapon you use. Why would I want a bad item when I can get a good one just as easily? Sure it might be appriciated when you could sell max white items for 1k and good skinned whites for 5k, but those days are gone.

I used to like giving away free dyes(except black )in LA , long before NF ,
and mostly people only need 1 or 2 and will thank me or offer me something for them. But after year 2007 , the game starting to fill with "more" kids , most of them will ask " how many you have ?" " can i have some more ,my friends need them "
and some treat me as scam( how do i scam when things are free ),and some after getting my stuff , will pm me once in a while for more dyes ( how ungrateful and greedy they are , which i'll put them in ignore list) or some after getting my stuff yelled out "lol noobs"( which i dont understand how giving free stuffs is noob ?) and bla bla bla ( it will take me forever to talk bout it )

People are very paranoid, and many scams start off as a "free gift" or "goodwill". Regardless, I applaud those of you who are genuinely nice, and perhaps a few more truthful experiences will help stem the tide of paranoia.

Happy holidays!

I gave away some of my gold Monk items this morning. The three Monks who accepted them were quite happy to receive them.

Be honest, courteous and explain just how and why you're trading an item and you shouldn't have any problems. No shady deals, no "Ooh, can I see it outside?" tricks.
